CHRIS DUDLEY
Chris Dudley and his wife, Chris, founded the Chris Dudley Foundation in 1994. Chris was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 16. He went on to have a successful basketball career, playing at Yale University and going onto the NBA for 16 years. Chris was recognized during his playing career receiving the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award in 1996 and the USA Today’s Most Caring Athlete Award in 1997. He is currently a chairman of the Board of Diabetomics, a company working towards point-of-care tests that are useful in alleviating the burden of maternal health and diabetes. Chris is a father of 3 and lives in Sisters, OR.
CHRIS LOVE DUDLEY
Founder, Live Heads Up Foundation
Entrepreneur, published children’s book author, public speaker, philanthropist, and public relations strategist. Believer in the importance of keeping your head up in thought in action, being active, and helping others are core values that springboarded Live Heads Up Foundation. Live Heads Up promotes the scientifically proven benefits of a Live Heads Up lifestyle for all people. The core belief is that things start looking up the moment we do.
Co-founder of the Chris Dudley Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources and programs for children living with diabetes. Since its inception in 1993, the Foundation has hosted basketball clinics and helped thousands of youth all over the world. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2020, the Foundation also offers education, collaborative healthcare, and diabetes supplies to the homeless.
Founder and former president of Domestic Square Peg, LLC, which produced a 12-part series for CBS television on time-saving shortcuts for the domestically challenged.
Chris lives in Sisters, OR with Chris and she is a mother of 3 children, Charles, Emma, and Sam.
JOEY WAKEM
Joey has been a part of the Chris Dudley Foundation since 1999, currently serving as the Executive Director. Joey loves serving youth living with Type 1 Diabetes and has a plethora of experience working with them and their families through the Chris Dudley Basketball Camp and CDF’s other programs. Joey lives in Turner, OR with her husband, Devin, where they raised their 3 sons.
KA’IULANI FARIS
Ka’iulani was a Chris Dudley Basketball camper before joining the CDBC staff. She is a full-time assistant and diabetes liaison with the Chris Dudley Foundation. Ka’iulani was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2003 at age 4. She has a passion for working with kids at camps and is an assistant coach at Klahowya Secondary School. She and her husband, Chase live in Bremerton, WA.
