ABOUT THE CHRIS Dudley BASKETBALL CAMP
The Chris Dudley Basketball Camp is a week-long overnight camp for youth with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), ages 10-17. Camp gives youth a sense of how to play a vigorous sport while managing T1D and connects them with mentors and peers who understand the daily challenges they face as an athlete living with T1D. The Chris Dudley Basketball Camp was founded in 1996 by NBA player, Chris Dudley, and his wife, Chris. Campers come from all over the world to the state of Oregon to participate in CDBC. Each day, camp is filled with practicing basketball skills, intense basketball tournaments, fun contests and games, working one-on-one with our 25 + experienced coaches, counselors, and world-class medical team and, and learning new ways to improve their game from Chris Dudley himself.

NEW CAMPERS
Each year, registration for new campers opens on midnight on New Years Eve in your timezone. To register, call 503-349-0073 or email info@chrisdudley.org with your camper’s name, camper’s birthdate, parent’s name, parent’s phone number and email, and the state you reside in. Admission to CDBC is solely based off of a first come, first serve basis. Campers are not selected based on basketball skill level in any way. CDBC Staff will contact applicants during the third week of January to let you know if you have a spot at camp or placed on the waitlist.
RETURNING CAMPERS
Returning camper applications are sent via email and are due December 1st. If your application is not received by December 1, you will need to contact us with new campers (midnight, your time zone on New Year’s Eve - see above) to receive a spot in camp. If camp is full by the time you apply, you will be placed on the camp waitlist.
Tuition
How much does it cost to attend camp?
At the Chris Dudley Foundation, we understand how expensive living with Type 1 Diabetes is. We never want Camp to be an extra financial burden on your family. We offer a sliding scale for tuition, payment plans, and “Camperships”. As the payment options may change year to year, please contact the foundation office for current cost options. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How many campers and staff are at CDBC?
Each year, we host 75 campers. With a staff of 45+ including basketball coaches, trained camp counselors, nurses, doctors, and other medical staff, we have a high staff to camper ratio to ensure the safety and best experience for every camper.
My child does not play basketball on a team, or has never played basketball. Can he/she still come to camp?
Absolutely! Any child ages 10-17 with T1D is welcome at CDBC. However, please be aware that 95% of our time at camp is spent on the basketball court building skills, competing, and working with our coaching team. If that is something your child would enjoy, we would love to have them at camp, no matter their basketball skill level or experience. What about the middle of the night? How can you make sure campers’ blood sugars stay safe while sleeping?
Great question! We have a full Night Staff that stays up through the night. The staff checks all blood sugars at 12AM and 3AM and is available throughout the night to monitor as needed.
Does Chris Dudley come to camp?
Yes! Chris comes to our to camp and spends the week on the courts working with the campers on their basketball skills, talking to them about life with diabetes and playing in the NBA with diabetes, and getting to know the kids!
What is the Camp Store?
The Camp Store is open for a few hours each day during the camp week, as well as during camp Check In and Check Out. Items for sale include CDBC apparel and accessories such as sweatshirts, stickers and water bottles. You can also purchase some of the Camp Store items year-round through our Online Camp Store!
