Join our staff at the Chris Dudley Basketball Camp! Staff members interact with campers and families in a number of different roles to impact the lives of those living with Type 1 Diabetes. Each year, the Chris Dudley Basketball Camp hires roughly 45 staff members for the week of camp ranging from coaches to counselors to medical staff

CAMP NURSE/STUDENT NURSE
Camp Nurses (RN) and Student Nurses gain hands-on nursing experience working with our medical team to assist campers in a variety of ways. Working at CDBC is a great way to build connections in the medical field and provides experience working in a specialty field with a motivated, passionate medical team! Qualifications: RN's must have a current Oregon license. Nursing School Graduates must be board eligible. Student Nurses must have completed one year of nursing school or similar experience. Preferable Diabetes experience, but not required.

DAY COUNSELOR
The Day Counselor at CDBC is responsible for guiding campers in all scheduled activities. Day Counselors supervise and assist with blood glucose testing on the courts and at meal times, treat low blood sugars per protocol, and attend to other health needs as needed. Day Counselors will be paired with a coach and team to work with throughout the week. Day Counselors work with the medical team to ensure the safety of all campers.

NIGHT COUNSELOR
Night Counselors are responsible for the direct supervision of campers, and for the management of the dorms in the evening and throughout the night. Night Counselors perform BG checks per protocol, at 12:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m, as well as being available throughout the night for campers. Night Counselors work with a team of counselors and nurses to ensure the safety of all campers throughout the night.

ACTIVITIES TEAM
Members of the Activities Team are responsible for planning and executing all non-basketball activities, including evening activities and free time activities. The Activities Team is expected to guide, engage and encourage campers through these activities, as well as incorporate other staff members. Activities include, but are not limited to: Talent Show, including coordinating the staff skit, Splash Contest, Slip n Slide, and game nights. This role requires creativity and self motivation.

REFEREE
In addition to refereeing games throughout the week, Referees assist Camp Coaches with activities on and off the court. Referees work as a team to ensure that all coaches and teams have what they need. This role requires self-starters who are able to be flexible and keep a positive energy throughout the week, as well as being an example of good sportsmanship and teamwork for all campers.

DIETARY AID
Dietary Aids ensure that essentials such as water and juice for low blood sugar treatment is immediately available to all campers. Dietary Aids also assist the kitchen staff with meal and snack prep and serving. The role of Dietary Aid requires hard work, attention to detail, and an emphasis on being a good role model for campers and fellow staff members.


CAMP COACHES

Each summer, the Chris Dudley Basketball Camp hires 10 coaches to work with campers ages 10-17. Coaches do not need to have experience with Type 1 Diabetes prior to coming to Camp. Coaching experience is required.
