CDBC’S RESPONSE TO COVID-19

Dear CDBC Family,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the 2020 Chris Dudley Basketball Camp will not take place in the same way that it has for the past 24 years.  Our number one priority will always be the health and safety of our campers.  Our team has been closely monitoring COVID-19 developments, as well as federal and state mandates.  Recently, the Oregon Health Authority put out summer camp guidelines stating “Overnight camps are not permitted to open or operate at this time” (OHA).  We know this news is very disappointing for our campers and their families, as it is for all of us at the Chris Dudley Foundation.  That being said, we are still committed to providing a memorable and meaningful camp experience this summer.

We invite all currently registered 2020 campers to join us from home for CDBC Virtual, taking place during the original CDBC dates: Sunday, July 26 - Friday, July 31.  This virtual setting will certainly look different than a normal week at Camp, however campers will interact with CDBC staff, gain Diabetes and basketball skills and knowledge, and continue to form bonds with peers and mentors who understand the daily challenges of living with Type 1 Diabetes.  Whether 2020 is your first year as part of the CDBC family or you are a veteran camper, our camp staff is looking forward to meeting you where you are at, allowing you to experience Camp in a whole new way, from the safety of your home.  Please see more information below on how to register your camper for CDBC Virtual Camp.  Please see below for more information on the logistics of the cancelation of CDBC.

The CDBC family is one that stretches across state lines, over oceans, and through generations.  The bonds formed at camp stand strong despite distance and time.  This year is no exception. Stay healthy!
